Summary:

On Sunday the 17th of August 2014 a PIPER PA31 NAVAJO aircraft with registration G-IMEC departed from the State Airport of Syros Island (LGSO) at 14:45 h with destination the airport of Pachi Megara (LGMG). At destination airport there were strong winds and during landing a sudden gust made the aircraft performing a long flare. As the plane touched the ground the available runway length was insufficient for a safe landing, so the pilot applied too much force on the brakes and the LH tire burst. The pilot realized that he could not stop the aircraft on the runway so he turned left towards taxiway “A” and because of its high speed the aircraft finally veered. The RH landing gear collapsed and the RH wing touched the ground. The aircraft stopped in the middle of taxiway and the passengers aborted with no injuries. No fire occurred.
